In continuation of my Despatch
No. 23 of the 5th. ultimo, I have the honour to forward copy
of a letter, dated the 19th. ultimo, from Sir H. W. de
Sausmarez covering a memorandum, dated the 20th. idem, to-
-gether with two joint Memoranda by the Attorney-General,
Mr. H. E. Pollock, K.C., and Mr. C. G. Alabaster, dated the
6th. and 22nd. instant, and I would suggest that as Mr. Rees
Davies, the Attorney-General, proceeds to England on leave
on the 8th. April next opportunity should be taken of his
presence at home to obtain an expression of his views verbal-
-ly before a decision is arrived at with regard to companies
formed and registered in Hongkong but trading at Chinese
Treaty Ports and not in this Colony.
